Wongsatorn "Crunchyboy" Choowanich went 17-5 in the third edition of GosuCup SEA and becomes the first flagbearer of his country on GosuCup grounds. The Thai player will bank $100 and will be sent to compete in the $500 grand final in February.
The first two GosuCup SEA tournaments were tough for the people of Thailand. Despite numerous players signing up, the country couldn't get a representative in the top 8, let alone send someone to the grand final and it looked from the outside in as Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines occupied the peaks.
Last Saturday, Thailand got its first breakthrough as Crunchyboy demolished his opponents and went undeafeated in seven rounds, defeating players from five different countries. Aside from the first place prize of $100 thanks to his victory over Indonesian player Mokochiro, Crunchyboy will also go to the grand finals in February, being the only Thai there thus far.
A Singapore mirror match happened in the third place match as Sohigh666 and Jizzes fought for the third grand final spot. After five games, it was Jizzes who took the series and joined the grand final line-up, also being the sole representative of his country by the third episode of GosuCup.

In the nation standings, Philippines' single top 8 representative AirVengeance was enough to break the tie on the top and put the Pinoys as first with 11 points, barely making it past Vietnam (10 points) and Indonesia (10 points). This weekend was also a big one for Singapore - previously one of the lowest ranked countries, Singapore now had three top 8 players, shooting it up to fourth place with 9 points. Malaysia and Thailand follow with 8 and 6 points, respectively.
