Big names fall at the start of DH Valencia

The competition in Spain takes after the first day of IEM Shenzhen and is off to a rocky start with slew of technical difficulties. The first results, however, are in and DH Valencia is going towards a Spain-dominated bracket.

Having undergone a format change overnight, DreamHack Valencia started today with the last rounds of what appeared to be a single elimination qualifier bracket. Seven Spaniards and a single French player in Torlk made it through the culling and earned themselves the right to fight the eight seeded players in the top 16 bracket.

Several of those seeded players are now out of the tournament, including who was considered to be one of the favorites for the championship - DreamHack Bucharest champion Gaara. Tempo Storm's powerhouse was paired with Spanish player Morghur in the first round and went down 1-3, taking just one game on the back of his aggro Rogue.

Gaara is followed out of the tournament by MYM's Ignite and vVv's Kaldi who were one of the few non-Spaniards in the top 16. Thus, the "guests" are only represented by Ek0p and Lothar who are competing in the different ends of the bracket and are thought to be the two players with the biggest chances for a grand final finish.

The quarter final matches are scheduled for 17:30 and are to be streamed on DreamHack's Spanish stream.
