Europe all-kills China at EU vs CN Masters, breaks streaming records

Image: Hearth2P

If the previous edition saw NA and CN go neck and neck, there was no hope for Asia as they went against Europe's finest, who went 12-3 combined to grab the championship.

The first edition of the 2P team championship held back in 2013 put four North American against four Chinese players for the first cross-region team tournament in Hearthstone. The event was a rare chance to peek into a very untelevised region and see what the Chinese - known to be innovators in other eSports disciplines - are playing.

At that point, although considered somewhat behind compared to Europe and North America, the Chinese scene did create the origins of several decks, e.g. the Watcher Druid, the control Paladin and the Warlock Zoo with Hellfire, some of which are played to this day. The series between NA and CN went down to the wire, with the Americans narrowly escaping with a 4-3 victory.

As the second edition 2P's event drew closer, a second opportunity to learn from the Chinese appeared. Europe had selected a mix of well-known names like Savjz and Lifecoach alongside aspiring players such as Rdu and Beherit and threw them against the Chinese opposition. The format was slightly changed (a Bo5 fixed line-up series instead of a Bo7 winner-stays as in previous edition) but a treat was expected nonetheless.

Four Bo3 series later, China lay in utter defeat as they couldn't win a single match. What started with Rdu and his 3-1 victory over ??? was continued by Beherit, Lifecoach and finally crowd favorite Savjz for a cumulative 12-3, making this the easiest payday in these players' careers. The four will now split the $8,000 prize pool, leaving China with approximately $3,200 only.
