Arrow Gaming at a Malaysian local tournament two weeks before match fixing scandal was reported.
One year ago today, GosuGamers released a video interview (below) with Arrow Gaming at their gaming house in Seremban, Malaysia. Courtesy of E-Club Malaysia, we were there at Arrow Gaming's bootcamp and had the opportunity to watch them defeat MVP.Phoenix for their The International 4 spot.
Despite the awkward interview, Arrow Gaming was widely considered as the best South East Asian team bar Titan at the time. These young players received a lot of media attention after their victory but eventually fell into a slump prior to The International 4 and finished last place in the prestigious tournament.
According to insiders, Jaren Gan, owner of DotaTalk and Arrow Gaming, destroyed the friendship between JoHnNy and the rest of the players when they were at Seattle. Halfway through the tournament, the players ganged up on JoHnNy and did not have the proper teamwork to compete at the highest level. JoHnNy was kicked right after the tournament ended and he formed another team named JoHnNy's Revenge, an appropriate name to get back at Gan and the rest of Arrow Gaming.
On October last year, Arrow Gaming members were caught in a matchfixing scandal in which the players placed bets against themselves in their match against Can't Say Wips. The scandal blew up to such an epic proportion because instead of admitting their mistake and apologizing for it, they forged fake chat logs and evidence to state that they did not do it. According to the players, Gan was the one who asked them to do it although the latter would deny that fact.
A few days later, the members of Arrow Gaming, most notably Kok Yi 'ddz' Liong and Hsien Wan 'Lance' Fsu admitted that they did fix their match and pulled the rest of the team down with him. The team and team members were subsequently banned from tournaments worldwide.
Although they were banned from most tournaments locally and internationally, the members of the former Arrow Gaming stayed strong and played under a new team name, Team Redemption in hopes that people would forgive them. They qualified for Major All Stars and had a decent run in the tournament, eliminating Rave in last place. However, Valve did not forget. On March 28, Team Redemption manager Dawei 'Zero' Teng issued a statement on their Facebook page stating that Valve has made the decision to ban them from every Valve related events for life. This would include The International and the upcoming Dota 2 Majors.
Most of the members of the former Arrow Gaming are no longer competing and are doing MMR boosting service on Facebook.
