TLT2: Interview with Draco[pG]

[s]event_tlt2[/s]

Another TLT-featured interview with some of the top players of the wellknown and considered best ladder for the top Europeans and Americans. Today we sat down and talked to the Protoss player Draco[pG] who recently made a comeback after one of his breaks. He is currently ranked #4, and says that won't play any more ladder games. Read on!

draco.gifIntroduce yourself to the readers with your name, where you live, age and so on.
- My name is Krzysztof Nalepka, I live in Poland and I'm 17 years old. I live in a small city called Nowy Wiœnicz with 5,000 - 10,000 in population. I don't know exactly ^^

Did you play in the previous season of TLT?
- No I didn't... During that time I had a break from StarCraft.

Do you think TLT makes more players coming back?
- Hm... Yes maybe ladders with good prizes like TLT causes some old players come back. As for me I just came back because I tend to take many breaks. It was not just because of TLT.

What do you think of the skill level of TLT compared to last season?
- As I said I didn't participate in a last season so I can't say a lot about this matter. However the level of skill is really high. I guess all top gamers from all over the world except Koreans play there. But personally I think there are better places to practice than TLT.

What do you think of the fact that Koreans aren't allowed to play in the playoffs of TLT?
- I think this idea is "fair" ;-). We already had/have ladders like neogamei or PGT, where 99% of top gamers are Koreans. I guess Team Liquid wants to make TLTour the place for foreigners rivalry.

I didn't want to play with any pressure... I just wanted to participate in this tour and to have some place to practice and get my skill back.

You previously played under the nickname 61[pG] with the Taiwanese flag. Why the number 61, and why smurf at all?
- Well I wanted to invent some cool nick, but after few minutes I got angry and I decided to write a random number. Why smurfing? The reason is simple: I didn't play SC for 3 months and my skill level was really low. I came right into TLTour after my break, meaning I was really rusty. I didn't want to play with any pressure... I just wanted to participate in this tour and to have some place to practice and get my skill back.

But now you changed back to Draco[pG]. Do you feel that you are back at the top and is playing as good as you did before your break?
- My skill isn't on the right level yet. I changed my ID because people already knew that 61 was me so there wasn't much sense to continue hiding. Anyway some things changed for better... There is an intersting change. After every break my APM gets higher... Before my break I was around 180-200 APM and now I am around 260.

You are currently ranked #4, but were #2 a couple of days ago. Do you feel that you are one of the best players taking part in TLT right now?
- As many people said before ladder doesn't show real skill as many gamers play only for fun, have bad days or their gaming style is mostly strategy for one - few games. Gamers of this type don't need to be top in ladder, but they can do well in the final tournament. As for me I finished playing the ladder, because I am already in Top 32. I have better places to practice than at TLT; places where people don't download my replays. And yes... I think I have a big chance to win the final tournament and I will try to do my best.

The ladder ends in six days, do you think that your 5388 points are enough?
- Yes I think so... I compare it to last days, when I didn't play any games and I was still Top 5. However, if it's not enough and if my participation is in "danger" I will just play more games.

Do you believe that any player would do a special move or a feature similar to the way Smuft did in TLT1 - switching race and surprising everybody in the playoffs?
- Maybe FiSheYe will do so... But however I don't care about that. I will play versus who I will need to and I will just try to destroy him! ;-)

Someone who uses Map Hack will be catched sooner or later. The ladder admins have a lot time to analyze dubious games and it's okay.

What do you think of the fact that BWScanner is not obligatory in a ladder like this where a lot of money is at stake?
- Someone who uses Map Hack will be catched sooner or later. The ladder admins have a lot time to analyze dubious games and it's okay. However I think that in the playoffs this program should be obligatory.

Do you intend to play Protoss through the whole tournament?
- Yes I think so... I don't want to take that risk with playing other races. I always played Protoss and nothing has changed so I think it is not any suprise that I will play this race.

Which person have impressed you the most so far, and why?
- Well there is not any person who I afraid the most. There are a few players who have biger chance to win than the rest and I think there is no one insuperable.

How do you think Top 3 will look like in the end?
- That's a tough question. I think some of these: FiShEye, Breakdown, ret, Androide, Mondragon (if he participates, because I don't know), maybe Lamer or Anon... and finally - me! ;-) Mayby there are some players who I forgot and surely have a chance to become Top 3. I have a simple rule: Don't talk, just play and show what do you're worth.

Okay, good luck in the future and especially in TLT!
- No, thanks. I wish luck to all others, mayby it will help my self! :>
