Best Year Ever? Erik Seidel Wins WPT Super High Roller and another million

To say that Eric Seidel is running well in 2011 would be an understatement. Sitting short stacked in 15th out of 17 players after Day 1 of the World Poker Tour $100k buy-in Super High Roller event, he clawed his way amongst the chip leaders Thursday and finished off Erick Lindgren to continue his incredible year adding the title and another million to his 2011 winnings.

Late Thursday evening once it got down to heads-up play, tournament Director Jack McClelland gave the two players the option to play it out or return Friday at noon, and Erik Seidel and Erick Lindgren agreed that they would prefer to come back Friday. After Lindgren took an early lead, Seidel doubled up and never looked back in taking the victory.

On hand #326 of the final table, Erik Seidel completed the small blind and Erick Lindgren checked his option in the big blind. The flop fell Aclub4club2club and Lindgren checked. Seidel bet 125,000 and Lindgren moved all-in for his last million chips.

Seidel called after a few seconds with Aheart5heart for a pair of aces. Lindgren has a flush draw and a gutshot with Jclub3heart.

The turn brings the 9diamond, which is no help to Lindgren. The river comes 2spade and Seidel's pair of aces hold to take the pot and the title.

This is Seidel's fourth victory so far this year, not to mention his ninth final table appearance. Seidel's 2011 tournament earnings are now up to $5.4 million.

1. Erik Seidel - $1,092,780
2. Erick Lindgren - $700,500
3. Daniel Negreanu – $448,320
4. Vivek Rajkumar – $336,240
5. Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo – $224,160
