Evil Geniuses are the first grand finalists at Galaxy Battles II

The second day of Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds concluded with a breath taking final series between VG J Thunder and Evil Geniuses.

Nobody was eliminated through the second day of the main event in the Philippines Arena. The schedule featured three upper bracket series. The Chinese team VG J Thunder opened the day with a crushing victory over Team Spirit and were the first to advance into the upper bracket finals. Evil Geniuses joined them after a 2 - 0 victory over OG, who didn’t bring their full line-up to Malaysia.

Without any lower bracket games scheduled for day two, the show went on with a bit of a meme segment provided by the event host, Eri Neeman. Once that was over, EG and VG J Thunder delivered a thrilling battle and made the day truly memorable for all who watched.
After a few games with Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan taking the offlane position, EG reverted to him playing in the mid lane and sent the Old Man Clinton "Fear" Loomis to take the position left uncovered after UNiVeRsE’s departure.

In the opening game of today’s Galaxy Battles II finals, EG continued the musical chairs with their players positioning in the lanes and surprised  VG J Thunder with a  mid lane Fear Death Prophet, a safe lane SumaiL Tidehunter and an offlane Spectre for Artour "Arteezy" Babaev.

Game One

The lane stage didn’t go all perfect but EG were able to transition decently into the mid game stage on the back of an unusual Battle Fury build coming from RTZ. A few too courageous mid lane tier one dives from VG J Thunder made EG’s way to the game one victory a little bit easier as well and the NA juggernaut team looked like could easily get to the grand finals.

Game Two

The second match started off disastrously for EG. By the 15 minute mark, EG were lead 16 to 4 in kill score and VG J Thunder were already sitting on near 6k gold advantage. Geared up for a possible late game with RTZ on Terrorblade, EG’s game looked like completely lost. But they had the patience to wait for the first small mistake from the Chinese and that came only 45 minutes into the game. EG’s comeback was made with a team wipe around the Roshan Pit, right after the Terrorblade got the Aegis. Caught on the wrong foot for the very first time, VG J Thunder lost a lane of barracks and EG’ Terrorblade plus Death Prophet push power forced the Chinese to buy a Divine Rapier for Liu "Sylar" Jiajun’s Luna and go all in for EG’s base once all their players respawned.

Unfortunately for them, RTZ had one of his best days, so did EG’s new captain Rasmus "MISERY" Filipsen who delivered all the possible clutch plays on a Dazzle to keep his team and his Throne intact through the insane Luna damage output. Syler dropped and the Rapier got into RTZ’s hands which was the winning move for EG. The game lasted close to an hour but the last 15 to 20 minutes were just nerve-wracking for both teams and for all their fans watching.

VG J Thunder will have another shot at a grand finals spot tomorrow. But the battle for that will be held in a best-of-one format. Four teams will get eliminated tomorrow, and one will be crowned Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds Champion. The action will resume at 02:30 CET with the lower bracket bo1 matches while the grand finals are scheduled for 09:30.
