Team Secret qualify to The International 7

First phase of the European qualifies for The International 2017 ended with Team Secret claiming the top seed of the group and their tickets to the biggest event of the year.

Despite being clear favorites, Team Secret were actually highly tested by the new wave of professionals. For those who tune in only for big events to see the living legends like Dendi, Loda, Xiao8, or Puppey fighting for a second Aegis in their careers, this year’s European (and not only) qualifiers might have taken them by big surprise. Not only that Team Secret wasn’t exactly at the top of the group after the first day of matches, but their games held on the second day of the group stage were extremely close and teams like Singularity, Planet Dog, or Danish Bears gave a lot of troubles to the veterans of the scene.

TI 1 winner with Na’Vi and one of the best drafters of all times, Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov, who also used to be one of the few who defined the new metas, found himself surrounded this year by players ready to truly challenge his skills and tactical games. Team Secret has been testing the waters these qualifiers and most of their drafts looked fresh compared with what they have been playing just two weeks ago at Dota Summit 7. Support Zeus, Lich or Ancient Apparition, a mid lane Broodmother, a core Venomancer or Necrophos were all tried by Team Secret with great success. They dropped only one game during the entire group stage, to Mousesports but even so, the race for the first place in the group was really tight.

At the end of day one Planet Dog were leading the group, followed by the Polish roster of Singularity (ex ALTERNATE aTTaX). Team Secret was on the third place due to their loss to Mouz, however, Puppey and co didn’t drop any other match on the second day while Planet Dog lost two of their matches.

With Team Secret already qualified to TI 7, second to fifth placed teams in the group will now go to battle for the one spot remained available, in a double elimination qualifiers playoff bracket. The second phase will kick off in just a few hours, with Singularity, Planet Dog, Mousesports and Danish Bears being the four squads fighting.
