Newbee and VG J announced for SL i-League Invitational Season 2

The second season of StarLadder i-League Invitational will take place in China this May with eight teams battling out for a share of the $100,000 prize pool.

Little to no info was released by the tournament organizers regarding the number of direct invites  or the qualifier process. However, with only Chinese qualifiers running as of yet, the first two direct invites went to VG J and Newbee. The previous edition of SL i-League Invitational was held in April last year in Kiev, Ukraine and witnessed only two Chinese teams fighting into the main event, from which Vici Gaming Reborn managed to win it all by besting Natus Vincere in front of their home fans.

With the second season held in Shanghai, China, it seems like we will have at least three Chinese teams in the main event. The recent DAC champions, Invictus Gaming are fighting for the only Chinese qualifying spot and so are their sister team, iG Vitality. If IG have no chance at getting both of their squads to the LAN playoffs, Vici Gaming could potentially secure two teams to fight for keeping the trophy on their organization's shelf.

StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 2 LAN playoffs will run from the 18th to 21st of May with a $100,000 total prize pool split as follows:

1st place: $45,000
2nd place: $20,000

5th/6th place: $5,000
