The Dota 2 Asia Championship online compendium held a public vote for the Solo Championship and the All-Star match, and the results are somewhat of a surprise.
Evil Geniuses’ Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev has not accumulated enough votes to make the cut in either of two DAC mini-events, with his team mate, Syed Sumail 'SumaiL' Hassan overshadowing Artour. While RTZ took part in the TI4 Solo Championship, back then being EG’s mid laner, Suma1L is due his first experience of this kind. On a side note, Suma1L’s grand entrance into the pro scene was actually made at the first DAC edition, in February 2015 when EG took home the Radiance trophy, and it seems like his Chinese fans remember his amazing debut. Suma1L is one of the few Aegis holders but he does lack a Solo Championship title and he has the perfect opportunity to rectify this. The last 1v1 tournament was held at The International 4 when Gustav 's4' Magnusson won the grand finals against Luo 'Ferrari_430' Feichi.
With Ferrari not being present at DAC 1017 and s4 not getting enough votes to defend his title, only one previous Solo Championship winner is left to to prove to the world he can still be a feared mid lane player. Although he has never actually played in this position as a pro, Daryl Koh 'iceiceice' Pei Xiang has won the TI3 1vs1 Championship and has a chance to snatch the trophy from his more experienced adversaries once again.
According to the DAC website, the seeding for the 1vs 1 tournament will be done based on the amount of votes, meaning that iceiceice will be playing in the first round against one of the most efficient mid-laners and fans favorite, Amer 'Miracle-' Al-Barkawi.
While the DAC 2017 Solo Championship will be held on the 2nd of April in a single elimination, bo1, Shadow Fiend only format, the All Star match will be played on the next day, April 3 featuring Team China vs Team World. Six players voted in for the Solo Championship got also chosen by the community to play in the All Star match.
