Four of the Chinese teams attending the Kiev Major will duke it out in the Manila Masters Chinese qualifiers.
The Manila Masters Chinese qualifiers will kick off on the 18th of March with one spot on the line for the $250,000 event. A total of eight teams will participate in the regional qualifiers, including the recently qualified to the Kiev Major, Invictus Gaming and iG Vitality. Wings Gaming and VG J, who received a direct invite to the said Major, will have to also fight their way to Manila Master which will make the qualifiers a treat to watch.
The Chinese qualifiers will be played in a double elimination format with best-of-three matches, up to the grand finals, which will be a bo5 battle.
So far, only three directly invited teams have been revealed by the Manila Masters organizers, namely Evil Geniuses, OG and Newbee. Two more names are yet to be announced as the event will feature five invited teams joined by three squads from regional qualifiers. With the Chinese and a special Pinoy qualifier tour announced, the third region remains a mystery.
The special Filipino qualifier will commence on the 18 of March as well, with a one month long process of online open qualifiers that will lead to the the so called “branch” qualifiers held in an offline format in 20 cities around Philippines, followed by pre-playoffs and playoffs brackets. Mineski, TNC, Execration and HappyFeet received invites straight to the last stage.
