Talent list for WESG Dota 2 finals announced

Five top notch Dota 2 personalities have been invited to make our first WESG finals experience an unforgettable one.

With the first ever LAN finals of World Electronics Sport Games is quickly approaching, the organizers have revealed the talent list for the Dota 2 competition which is set to take place from 12th to 15th of January at Changzhou Olympic Sports Center from Changzhou, China. All five personalities need no introduction, so here is the entire English talent list:

Netherlands Jorien 'Sheever' van der Heijden
United Kingdom Owen 'ODPixel' Davies
United States Ben 'Merlini' Wu
United States Ioannis 'Fogged' Loucas
United States Austin 'Capitalist' Walsh

The WESG LAN finals event is the last act in the race for the generous $1.5M prize pool. A total of 30 teams advanced into the finals stage after nearly five months of regional based qualifiers. Beside the huge prize pool, WESG is marking a historical point in the Dota 2 tournaments circuit as the only one to offer over a million USD prize pool to teams formed exclusively from five players of the same nation. The WESG finals will kick off with a group stage for which the exact format is still to be announced, however the seeding has been done and most likely we are looking at a GSL group stage format:

Among the 24 participating teams there are a handful of exciting rosters, such as the Swedish representatives, Alliance and Horde, the team representing Ukraine which features both Na’Vi members, Danil 'Dendi' Ishutin and Victor 'GeneRaL' Nigrini, and Team Romania with Pittner 'bOne7' Armand and Turtoi 'Ar1se' Ionut. WESG is also the first big test for the South American squads which will have, for the first time ever, their own regional qualifiers for the upcoming Spring Major. With no less than six SA squads present at WESG finals, we should get good image of the current state of latin-american Dota. Infamous, Tshow, DileCom, Team OneVultur Gaming and SG e-sports are coming to China to test their strengths and those six should also be the main competitors in the Kiev qualifiers as well.
