Virtus Pro and Escape Gaming off to a good start at Dream League Season 6

Dream League Season 6 kicked off last night with its league play stage, where the eight invited teams battle each other in a two game series format for the top four spots that come with tickets for the Dreamhack Winter 2016 LAN finals.

First to enter the brawl were Escape Gaming, Virtus.Pro and Team Liquid. Liquid’s series against Virtus Pro from last night was the official debut after the Fall Shuffle and unfortunately it didn’t end up successfully for them. With their new roster and Lasse 'MATUMBAMAN' Urpalainen just hitting 9K MMR the past Sunday, Team Liquid found themselves out drafted by the Russians in the first game of the series and tried to save the day with a last pick Huskar for Amer 'Miracle-' Al-Barkawi, but with no success.

VP’s huge team fight setup with a carry Faceless Void, support Witch Doctor and a surprise offlane Omniknight allowed them to force the issue early, have complete control over Roshan and a very smooth high ground push that ended the game around the 30 minute mark. VP continued to confuse Liquid with their drafting in the second game of the series. A first pick Mirana was read by Liquid as Ilya 'Lil' Ilyuk’s roaming/support hero (as he did in the previous game), but instead, it proved to be VP’s choice for mid lane. For the offlane they went once again with an unorthodox choice, namely Abaddon and secured a good team fight control over all with Lion and Kunka in the support positions. By the 20 minute mark VP already had a 20k gold advantage and, despite playing on the Dire side with an Ursa-Oracle duo, Liquid couldn’t make a comeback and lost the series with 0-2.

Despite their crushing performance against Team Liquid, Virtus Pro started the night with a 2-0 loss against Escape Gaming, who are now the leaders of the League Play with their two points secured in the only series played. Tonight, October 12 Escape will face another CIS representative, Vega Squadron.

With Ben 'Merlini' Wu as special guest for the first week, the league play schedule is as follows:

12th of October: 18:30 CEST - Vega Squadron vs Virtus.Pro
12th of October: 21:00 CEST - Escape Gaming vs Vega Squadron

13th of October: 18:30 CEST - NP vs Vega Squadron
13th of October: 21:00 CEST - Team Liquid vs Vega Squadron

After these four series conclude the League will take a five days break and will resume with a new special guest at the commentating desk on 18th of October.
