D2L Day 1: VPPolar and LV strong, CDEC eliminated

The first day of the D2L LAN finals has concluded and in an unexpected turn of events, find themselves eliminated. On the other side of the bracket, Virtus.pro Polar and LV-Gaming are fighting for the first grand finals spot after convincing performances in the first round.

After a bit of delay, the first day of the D2L LAN finals kicked off with the match-up between CDEC-Gaming and Virtus.pro Polar. The Chinese were considered the favorites in this match-up, as the Russians had to rely on a stand-in in form of Jimmy 'DeMoN' Ho. However, the team was able to synergize with the American on the support role quite quickly and the team was able to take down CDEC 2-1.

The second match saw LV-Gaming take on North-American powerhouse Evil Geniuses. Both of them brought two stand-ins to the tournament, but LV-Gaming has spent a signifcant amount of time more with their stand-ins, giving them the edge. It showed as the mainly Chinese roster made quick work of Evil Geniuses and pushed them down 2-0.

In the redemption match, EG took on CDEC-Gaming. The Chinese pulled ahead but the North-Americans equalized just as convincingly. The third game decider was once more a strong showing by EG.

LV-Gaming vs VP Polar will kick things off on Day 2. The winner of this match-up will proceed to the grand finals, whereas the loser will have to take on Evil Geniuses.
