The playoffs of the StarSeries X American division have just concluded, with the best-of-five Grand Final between Evil Geniuses and SNA. The long match ended with EG grabbing the victory using their WB advantage, securing their trip to Kiev and the tournament's LAN finals.
Last week, NewBee and ViCi Gaming became the first two squads to claim a spot in StarLadder X offline playoffs, after their respective victories in the Chinese regional qualifiers. One more finalist was decided yesterday, after the Grand Finals of the American qualifiers. Evil Geniuses managed to take down Sneaky Nyx Assassins in the best-of-five series and continue their Star Series journey in Ukraine. Four more challengers will emerge from the European groupstage, along with first-placer of the SEA leaderboard.
EG entered the match with a WB game advantage, winning the first match of the series as well to make it a quick 2-0 in their favor. However, SNA showed impressive resistance and grabbed two consecutive victories to even the score. The last battle of the Grand Final lasted for over 50 minutes, with SNA being unable to take advantage of their three well-farmed carries. In the end, EG's tactical selections proved superior, leading them to the hard-earned victory.
The StarLadder X matches are scheduled to continue today, with more matches for the SEA and European divisions. The SEA action will begin with the battle between Mineski and Immunity at 14:30 CEST, while the European games will start 19:30 CEST with Cleave taking on Fnatic.
