ESL One NYC: EG and Na'Vi.US crash through US qualifiers

The upper bracket of the ESL NYC's American qualifiers are now over, and teams Evil Geniuses and Na'Vi.US have secured their spots at the ESL's LAN Finals.

After multiple best-of-three matches, the dust has finally settled in the ESL One NYC's American qualifers, and teams Evil Geniuses and Natus Vincere US now stand victorious in the qualifiers' upper bracket, solidifying their spots at the ESL NYC's LAN Finals to be held at the Madison Square Garden's theater, from Oct. 9-10.

The final games of the upper bracket saw Na'Vi.US crash through the Sneaky Nyx Assassins, with a 2-0 victory, whereas team Evil Geniuses similarly dominated compLexity Gaming, also gaining themselves a 2-0 victory.

The first game of Evil Geniuses against compLexity saw EG pick a very push friendly lineup, with Fear utilizing a Lycan pick along with ppd's Shadow Shaman to push towers and end the game as quickly as possible, whilst Arteezy on Razor, Universe on Alchemist, and Zai with his Wraith King formed up a very scary deathball lineup. As compLexity's towers fell, they found little to no answers against EG's aggression, and by the 32-minute mark, tapped out of the game.

Game 2 of EG against coL saw, once again, EG's deathball roll right through compLexity's defenses, with Arteezy on Death Prophet, Fear on Venomancer, Universe on Jakiro, ppd on Earthshaker, and zai on Lina. With DP's exorcism, Venomancer's wards, and Jakiro's liquid fire making short work of compLexity Gaming's towers, EG claimed victory a mere 12 minutes into the game.

On the other hand, two of the most promising North American teams, Na'Vi.US and the Sneaky Nyx Assassins, fought out their first game with a lengthy 47-minute slugfest, with Na'Vi.US picking up a DP for Sneyking, a Void for Korok, an Ancient Apparition for Fogged, and their standins waytosexy and ragnarok utilizing a Rubick and a Centaur Warrunner respectively.

Na'Vi.US's well-rounded lineup squared off against an equally sound lineup of SNA, with TC on an Invoker, ixmike88 on a Tidehunter, FLUFFNSTUFF on Vengeful Spirit, Whitebeard on Jakiro, and ush- on Razor. While Razor and Jakiro were able to take a few towers off of Na'Vi.US's board, the DP eventually came fully online, and, accompanied by the Void, secured a victory for Na'Vi.US.

The second game saw a push-friendly lineup from Na'Vi.US, with a Drow, NP, and a Visage teaming up with a Centaur and a Skywrath mage to devastate SNA's early game. The Sneaky Nyx Assassins found themselves struggling against the early rotations and teamfights started by Na'Vi.US, and soon enough, Natus Vincere US secured their victory, 28-6, 22 minutes into the game, with all their towers intact.

This is not the end of the road for SNA and compLexity Gaming, however, as they will only go down into the lower bracket, to be continued later today.
