NewBee just announced the transfer fees for xiao8 and Hao, being 500,000 RMB and 100,000 RMB respectively. The prices are some of the highest the DotA2 scene has ever witnessed.
The NewBee organization just released more information about the purchases of Zhang 'xiao8' Ning and Chen 'Hao' Zhihao. According to their Weibo post, the price for the former LGD captain was 500.000 RMB (~$81,300) while Hao was bought for 100,000 RMB (~$16,300).
The prices may not seem that high compared to the numbers we hear every new transfer season in other sports (Gareth Bale's transfer fee for the move to Real Madrid was close to $145,000,000). However, they are an indicator of the massive growth of the DotA2 players' values. An example of this fact is the price Sicong Wang (iG's founder) had to pay for the LGD roster in 2011 having been more or less $31,000.
Though the sponsor behind NewBee is still unknown to us, it is obvious that they are here to stay, attempting to form a really strong team without hesitating to put their hands deeper in their pockets. It remains to be seen whether NewBee will meet the expectations of their fans and reach a dominant spot in the demanding Chinese scene.
