The National Electronic Sports Tournament starts today, a three-day tournament with a prizepool of ~$37,000 USD.
The NEST 2013 starts today, featuring eight Chinese teams competing for a prize pool of ~$37,000. The teams will be split into two groups, with the top two of each group moving on to the elimination bracket. NEST is directly sponsored by the Chinese government in a bid to promote and develop eSports within the country.
The groupstage will be played out today, 8 November, taking a round-robin best of one series. Tiebreakers will be decided by head-to-head records.
The elimination stage will be a single-elimination, best of three format. The semi-finals and 3rd/4th placing matches will be played tomorrow, 9th November, and the grand finals will be played on Sunday, 10th November 2013.
The groups are as follows:
The top team will walk away with ~$16,500, and the second and third placed teams with ~$11,500 and ~$8,200 respectively.
You can watch the tournament for free on DotaTV, or on the Chinese streams here and here.
Update: Beyond the Summit has confirmed that they will be casting the rest of the group stage games as well as the elimination stage.
Note: Little to no information was available until the start of the actual tournament, and the group stage appears to have stopped after five matches, possibly due to the schedule conflict with the WPC-ACE League.
