Reason-Gaming replace Tanari with Away: 'natural to take him back' - Drayich
Posted by Patrik "Raistlin" Hellstrand 3 months ago
Reason-Gaming has showed varied results lately. In the last Infused Cup they lost to GoSu and youBoat. Drayich tells GosuGamers that the results did not weigh in on the decision to replace Tanari with Away.- I don't think results is ever the reason why I think about making changes in a team. I mean we have not made that good results, but that's mostly because we are a fresh team and we need a lot of practice, says Drayich.
The reason behind the switch from Tanari to Away is that they didn't get the cooperation to work plus that Tanari had other commitments in life. Adding Away to the team was a no-brainer for the team since he was actively playing with the team back with the previous organization TS-Gaming.
- Away is an old friend of us and we already know him, so it feels natural to take him back, says Drayich and further tells that getting back into their comfortable roles as they had way back will be no problem whatsoever.
New roster in action this weekend
The new team roster can be seen in action already this weekend, with the JeeDota Championship kicking off. In a group with Western Wolves, Two Pudge One Cup and Danske Rester the Swedish skipper feel they have good chances of advancing, adding "without underrating anyone".
As for Drayich's future, he does mention how he has considered taking a step back and do commentating and community management, but his love for playing the game is too big.
A day with Drayich...
"A normal day could be me staying home with my kids just chilling, watching TV and cooking food til my wife comes home. A normal day could also mean working with my daddy groups or with refugee children. I also have discussion groups with dads, discussion groups with moms and one-on-one conversations with dads."

- That's what stopping me actually, because I couldn't do both. I have so much in my real life as well (see right-side box) that requries my immediate attention and other things going on with my daddy groups so I can't really spend any more time, says Drayich and promises that the day he stops playing he will remain in the community some way.» Twitch.TV/giftig

High demands results-wise from the wife
Drayich sees himself and the team being pretty high up there in the ranks when we ask him about the future. And that is not only a demand he has laid upon himself, but also coming from his spouse.
- It is also a demand that my wife has, because I have put down a lot of time, she also thinks that we should have some results, he says and laughs.
- And I think Dota 2 is going to grow. I think it will outgrow DotA, at least I hope so.
Lastly, Drayich liked to send a shout-out to his wife and to Reason Gaming, thanking for all the support.

I'm seriously sick of this... How hard is it to actually decide what to do with your team? You get sponsored by GamersLeague, a really great orga, even though you don't have any results in Dota 2 and lose to mediocre teams -> you decide to miss a tournament shortly after, not practice with the roster you stated you'll be playing with Then, you decide to form a Swedish team with Tanari (who's a cool guy btw) and test him out in some games. You form a team with him and get picked by Reason (even though you still lack results and the only Reason why I u were picked by them is your old fame) and then out of nowhere you kick him out for some old friend of yours? What's wrong with our scene, seriously?! Why is this news added here? It's such a disgrace to professional gaming. You were good at a fairly easy RTS game in comparison to Sc2 and Wc3 when competition back in the day was basically non existent in the scene. Excuse me for my words, but you need to seriously shut the fuck up, sit on your ass and produce some quality Dota before begging for some attention.
cilium, your right. its a big problem with change of both sponsors and lineups. do you think its preferable from our point of view? Dont you think we rather play with a solid fixed lineup forever? The problem is that people have real lifes aswell, you cannot take that out of the picture especially since the e-sport scene still is really nothing you can live and provide on, unless you are in the absolute top in some of the absolute topgames. About sponsorships, i vare to tell you, that what happens behind the surface of this is really smoething only players and sponsors self knows. A simlpe way to put it is that you dont even know 10% of what is said behind closed doors, this is just media and a way of explaining it. You also have no idea what happens within peoples teams, i mean what really happens, and i can assure you i have still not to this date just kicked someone out of a team since its completely senseless, i belive in playing together and keeping together. About attension, this is up to the newspages to choose what they wanna show to the people and what they not wanna show to the people. its not my call to judge wether this is an interesting news or not, however its my job to makes sure the people knows what happens within our team, and that we keep our names visable for media since thats the way to communicate with sponsors. I hope you have an opertunity to play for a sponsored team someday and you will understand that this is so much more complexed then just "kicking someone, and changing a sponsor" Cheers!
#25 +1 #26 so if you and your teammates are like >26 have a job and family, dont push yourself into profesional gaming..you will accomplish nothing anyway if you wont be playing like 7 games per day like the others pros..you are too old for this anyway...have a life and let the kids handle it:D
gl hf, and seriously that shirt is pure awesomeness :D #27 Not to be that guy but who are you to tell him what to do with his life. The man enjoy playing, let the man play!
dam he definately did good for himself with a woman like that who would think a pro gamer could get a hunny like that. I would like to do unmentionable things to that cute face. mmmmhmmmm giggity giggity
#27 we'll see if your right or not. but let us do that judgement call. its still fun and we are still practicing.
Glad to see that Twisted is also back! :D
#28 and #30 sure,I dont mind that Dray and co are back again..I will gladly watch them playing...its just that they got sponsored out of nothing...its just like the thing when bunch of noobs have a betakey and I - the biggest pro in the univers - am still betakey-less
Well with most of these responses, I dare to say I wouldn't answer at all. I just want to make a quick reference to a "slight" important thing, the guys from the old -apxl days will know this. If it wasn't for this guy, Drayich that is, among others ofc, when watching "The Defense","TPL","D2E" or any tournament, you would still have an HOUR long pick ban phase, the -CM mode you all know today was introduced after suggestions and insights like his. So yeah, besides his Mouz/SK days, he DID that as well and for that, to my eyes, will always be on top.Do you know why? Because after every day's drama that we the keen players or observers experience, things that divide our scene, sponsors boycotting players, players missbehaving etc, back then, in '08 he tried to unify our scene. Not just for his own convience but for everyone's. For that, I, will be always grateful. Cheers.
GLAD , nice read any way
#33 lol, if I remember corectly, Drayich sugested that the game should be played as a -rd mod..which is really retarded
@#35 Not really, the timer system of -rd is one thing, the -rd philosophy is another. ps. "bunch of noobs have a betakey and I - the biggest pro in the univers - am still betakey-less" That statement highclass your quality I guess.
#29 First, whats the problem for a pro-gamer to get a pretty wife/girfriend? I know lots who have very sexy halves.. And second, you're pathetic, have a little respect for drayich and his wife..
#36 you are probably the only one that took that statement seriously..you and mr. right #37 would make a great couple
real papa?
Looking forward to Reason gaming's games :D I was disappointed when Drayich left DotA but now he's back. It's just been a short while guys give the team some space to improve. Flaming down peeps ain't good. If you are envious in some way or another why not make your own team and compete on your own, since you're so high and mighty, eh?
#26, “cilium, your right. its a big problem with change of both sponsors and lineups. do you think its preferable from our point of view? Dont you think we rather play with a solid fixed lineup forever?” Of course I think it’s preferable for you to play with a stable line-up. Why wouldn’t it be? The point is that you are obviously making haste by accepting offers that you’re not entirely sure if they would be the best for you. Or picking up players that you’re not familiar with, playing with them like they’re toys just because you want to get something over and done with. “The problem is that people have real lifes aswell, you cannot take that out of the picture especially since the e-sport scene still is really nothing you can live and provide on, unless you are in the absolute top in some of the absolute topgames.” If you’re talking about Tanari, I’m 100% that you’re talking bullshit again. I played with him in a team (which wasn’t all that serious btw) and he was skipping work to practice with people like me that he hadn’t even heard of before. He was really happy about you giving him a chance, I’m really sad to see someone fucking him up like this. There are two reasons as to why you kicked him: 1. He’s just a skilled mannered player improving at a decent pace, a player which is good but you would prefer to play with someone you are familiar with 2. Your friend came out of the blue and since Tanari and him are probably at the same skill level in terms of individual skills, the latter prevailed as he is your friend and you’ve played with him before -> you feel more comfortable with him While everyone could understand the reasoning behind this, truth is you could have avoided this very easily. That’s why I think you’re a somewhat of a dick, putting up lame excuses for your own mistakes instead of manning up and admitting them like big grown up men do. I hope you have an opertunity to play for a sponsored team someday and you will understand that this is so much more complexed then just "kicking someone, and changing a sponsor I'm 18 and I'm 100% sure that I have more experience/skills than you in dealing with sponsors, changing rosters, or just people in general judging by your last few decisions. I haven't had the opportunity to play for a sponsored team but I have had the opportunity to work for a few organizations (I still am) and I've been in a few stable competitive teams. You left Gamers League obviously because Reason offered you more. As simple as that. And it’s understandable. The problem is that you hyped your team when you were in Gamers League, posted several interviews and acted as if you were really serious about this orga (you skipped a LAN just so you don’t shit on your newly picked up team’s name with your terrible play -> that’s admirable!) You didn’t even play an official game and then you leave the team without a statement on the matter, once again (as in Tanari’s case) playing with people as if they are toys – this time with Zarotan, who also happens to be one of the coolest guy in eSports that I know (unfortunately, would’ve been cool to leave his team if he was a dick). “About attension, this is up to the newspages to choose what they wanna show to the people and what they not wanna show to the people. its not my call to judge wether this is an interesting news or not, however its my job to makes sure the people knows what happens within our team, and that we keep our names visable for media since thats the way to communicate with sponsors.” I agree, I agree. But it’s also up to you to choose whether you put useless news straight into their mouths and make them talk so they don’t choke or stay in the shadows and cut through the fog with extraordinary play and not just some senseless words. Just a hint: most of the people here that are commenting or will comment don’t give a fuck about your team and are probably sure that you won’t achieve anything, a big part of them are just being polite. That’s how it is, people only care when you produce results, just wanted to put it there. (I’m sure you’re familiar with that since you have experience with Dota 1 community, but you also feel the need to stroke your ego a bit with some encouraging formal community posts) I’m not usually the person to start a fight on the Internet but sometimes I feel the need to express my exact thoughts.
^ Sir. U just pwned like a boas.
Cilium dropping bombs like the Taliban !
Nice interview. Hopefully the dota2 scene will grow bigger and more mature in the future.
#41 sometimes i wish i could just tell you the hole story, but i wont. I know that people that doesnt know me sometimes will misstrust me, thats just nothing i can come around. However i did give you a fair chance of seeing this with my eyes, which you didnt want to do. And i respect that. Maybe one day when i completely step back frmo the scene outta pain in my arms or simply just sucking too much ill tell the hole story about every organisation and player, most possible i wont. But i can be honest and tell you its a little bit hurtful that you judge me and my moves without knowing the hole story, especially since you make up your own possible explanations. If you know how much organisations/players faces i've saved just to be professional, you would probably look at me in a different manner, not saying im doing that right now, just saying. Anyways, since the discussion started and you responded i have to tell you that you are wrong, you might think you have an idea what happened here, but its nowhere near what really did happen. Cheers. (I might do some edits, didnt really get everything you wrote) EDIT: I actually seldome contact media myself, they in 90% of the cases contacts me. EDIT2: Accomplishments for me in DotA is definently results, but also beeing able to take part of the community on a sponsored level is a part of it. Dont you think? EDIT3: I think its less ego to actually respond to peoples opinions then just ignoring them as most people actually do. I do it since i belive that people that do care about whats happening should get proper responses. I've got tons of feedback from people saying thats retarded, and tons of feedback from people saying its awesome. I belive its awesome.
Haters will hate, dont know where you get the energy to even answer them. Good luck, youre the baws papa!
there are ppl who take this srly ....
Noname 18 year old kids that know nothing of how stuff works flaming one of the most experienced, community involved, most polite, best guys in eSports, not just DotA? cool story
#45 To be honest I don't even know what you're trying to achieve... You're not even trying to confront me :D Out of the million things I've said you've basically tried to answer none of them by pulling retarded speculations about some possible miscommunication with sponsors or saying things like, 'you don't know me, you're not right'. Accomplishments for me in DotA is definently results, but also beeing able to take part of the community on a sponsored level is a part of it. Dont you think? What are you even talking about? "Taking part of the community on a sponsored level"? The only reason why you're sponsored is because you are popular. And I keep trying to find the answer as to why you are popular. What have you actually done for the community? Cause I've followed you closely through the years and I can't recall anything all that important. People have overrated you so much through the years its unbelievable and you're abusing this to its fullest potential. I just want to ask you a few questions and hope to get an honest answer... Do you actually believe that you have the motivation or time to put in the game to make it to the top? Do you think you have the potential and talent to play this game competitively? #48 Judging by your position in GGnet I feel you're at the wrong section. You don't know a thing about me.
#48 oh oh excuse me mr. zero of newerth but just because the guy have some problem with the way Dray came back into dota doesnt mean he is flamig him (nor me)...guys like you just kill the discusion on the public forum...
