Hearthstone veteran Tirth “Gcttirth” Metha took down Yong Lee “Lojom” Beom in the grand finals of GosuCup SEA #1.
This year, we opened the GosuCup competitions to the entire APAC region. As a result, a couple of players from South Korea took the opportunity to bank some valuable HCT points and joined the fray.
Team Sunbi’s Lojom and Taeng2 were among the few non-SEA players who joined the tournament, and while Taeng2 faced round one elimination, Lojom made it all the way through to the grand finals. There, the Korean faced Indian player Gcttirth, a long-time Hearthstone player and an open cup veteran with almost 100 matches on the record.
Lojom’s Warrior destroyed Gcttirth’s Rogue in game one but that was all the success he saw in that series. The Indian turned the series around and his Priest / Rogue / Warlock line-up coined a final 3-1, crowning him the first champion of the new season. Gcttirth’s victorious run also reaped the head of SEA 2015 champion Lan “Neilyo” Tran, the region’s most established player of last year.
GosuCup SEA #1 standings:
1. Gcttirth - $300 + 3 HCT points
2. Lojom – 2 HCT points
3. Nexok – 1 HCT point
4. Aly33sida
