The Summit Asian pre-qualifiers begin

The Asian pre-qualifiers for the $50,000 tournament The Summit have just begun, with six teams fighting for three main qualifier slots. They will be joined by four invited Asian teams and the winner of The Inaugural in the battle for a spot in Los Angeles playoffs.

The upcoming tournament The Summit was announced back in March, and it will be one of the several international competitions taking place in 2014. It will feature both an online and LAN phase, with the participants fighting over a $50,000 prize pool (with a crowd funding boost from the DotaTV ticket). The tournament includes three regional qualifiers for Europe, Asia and America, with the Asian and American qualifiers including two stages - the pre-qualifiers and the main qualifiers (for Europe it is just one stage).

The Asian pre-qualifiers have already started, with the six Chinese participants of the round-robin group stage giving a fierce battle for three spots in the main qualifiers. The teams that manage to qualify from the pre-qualifiers will join the four invited squads and the Winner of the Inaugural. The eight squads will go through a double elimination bracket, with the victor joining Team DK in the LAN finals in Los Angeles.

The Inaugural playoffs are currently being played to decide the last participant of the Asian main qualifiers. Through their victory against RRQ, the Singaporean team Scythe secured a spot in the best-of-five final. Titan will be facing Execration on April 22nd, at 14:00 CET, and the winner will be the opponent of Scythe. The final is scheduled for April 23rd, at 14:00 CET. It will also be a best-of-five match.
