MVP's zerg Tae Hoon "Sniper" Kwon is the fifth Code S champion for 2012. It took him seven series to overcome TSL Hyun and grab the GSL trophy and the $42,000 purse.
It has not been the easiest road to the championship for Sniper. Kwon barely made it through the group stages - finishing second in both - but eliminated renowned names like Polt, Seed and Parting along the way.
Once in the playoffs, he was rewarded with a victory over MLG champion Leenock and another one against Ryung in the semi-finals, a series that would become famous for terran's frustration at the end of the fifth map.
Yet it was the grand final itself that would take the most blood and sweat out of Sniper. Going against the king of online tournaments and potential royal roader HyuN in a zerg mirror pushed the series into a seventh game in front of the Las Vegas crowd. Saved by his ninja expansion in the face of constant aggression by an overextending HyuN, Sniper turned the final battle into his favor and walked out of the booth as Season 5 champion.
