The Intel Extreme Masters kicks off its first event in the form of the Global Challenge Shanghai.| Prize Distribution | |
| Champions | $5,000 |
| First Runners up | $2,500 |
| Second Runners up | $1,300 |
| Fourth Place | $1,000 |
| Fifth/Sixth Place | $600 |
| Seventh/Eighth Place | $500 |
While the teams for China are not confirmed yet, it is safe to say we will be able to see teams such as EHOME, LGD,sGty and Nirvana.GiGa.cn in the mix. A consolation to the relatively small prize pool compared to events such as ESWC is that all participating teams will get a small sum to bring home.

| SB were invited ok because they win the ACG? This is a Chinese IEM tourney so dont complaint why only SB, it's supposed to be all CHinese in the first place. #43 it's not 1v7 and dont complaint its not fair because SB can choose not to come. This is suppose to be a Chinese only tourney. Teams are divided into brackets so it's not like SB has to fight every team to advance. |
