SearchIG.Ice wins SMM's Penang State Qualifiers.

While the best of Asia rages war in Singapore for the coveted title of WCG-Asia champions, a small group of Malaysian DotA players gathered in Georgetown, Penang to try their luck at getting themselves seeded into the SMM Grand Final.
SMM continues to provide top-notch DotA action from Malaysia with the recently concluded Penang State qualifiers. A total of 13 teams were present in this qualifiers, with notable team, FTZ in the mix. FTZ was the team that ended MYM's hope of winning big in the Grand Final event for the 2009 edition.
At the end of the day, it was FTZ taking on IG.Ice in the finals with IG.Ice emerging victorious over FTZ. Third and fourth placing went to team INS and team OnBlackList respectively.

| Agreed. There are many players who formed their team two to three at least and wait for the suitable time to be released to tackle tournament's champion place or as far as possible. I can see from what's been said that team IG.Ice had friends playing for very long now. So not to be surprised that Malaysia's powerhouse teams can be divided and have another new all-star roster to be proven as shown above. Well, congratulations to them as again. |

| they only not beat ftz la they oso beat the old school w4si(monkey,lucky,maybe got xiong and giamgiam also bt not sure) at quarter final the same w4si that beat SK GAMing(without loda) in 20mins+ in mym pride in 2008. wenz had always been stronk la.. he had been winning smm penang since 2007 old ftz with sinz,ahyeez,redrake(not sure) (2007),ice (2008) , inc.xlo (2009). * 2006 was won by Netzero which had dominated penang scene since 2005 and ended their domination during the rise of Netcity (which later changed their sponsor to ice) * some interesting facts about Netzero , they beat eNet in SMM grand final which was the favourite team to win the competition in quarter final , Netzero finishes 4th in the first SMM Grand Final behind WN-SK,Wizz1,Wizz2 * in 2007 2 players from Netzero joined with Sakura,icemen(smm 2007,2009melaka champ,smm kl champion 2008, SMM Grandfinal top 8 ,2007,2008) and FD(2006,2007 smm melaka champ) and manage to finish top8 in SMM grand final (Wenz ftz placed top8 also in that year losing to kingsurf at quaterfinal),(bboy if i am not mistaken was in Ice and lost in top16) bboy also stronk been in Ice for long enough from small timer penang champion until they join the rank of msia top 5 and eventually became no.2 in malaysia the only team that came close (among the malaysia top5 teams) to kingsurf during ks domination days and then afterward join together with nicxh and dabe, to form inc.xlo till recently maybe they split ways because wenz were inactive few months back because of NS? or perhaps because of the distance between KL kaki and penang kaki who knows they might know the manager might know but definitely not that misinformation person who always give wrong info about malaysian dota scenes |
