Kingsurf merges with MUFC

Kingsurf, one of the most prominent names in the Malaysian DotA scene have been in a slump lately. Since 2009, the team has not achieved greatness that was seen during their prime in 2007 and 2008, but it may soon change as the team has just announced that they will merge with MUFC.

While Kingsurf was in a slump, MUFC was at its prime, winning numerous tournaments in and around Malaysia. They were the ones set to represent Malaysia at the recently concluded ESWC, but due to financial troubles, the spot was given to runners up Nirvana.GiGa.my instead.

So what better way to strengthen the team than merge the two teams together? While the fifth and final player has not been announced yet as they are still trying to work out which of the three players, Redsun, Sharky and Papaxiong would best suit the team, the main four have been revealed. Yamateh and Ice will make up the core from Kingsurf while Winter and SilverCross will make up the part from MUFC.

With such a star studded team, the team may be back to its prime once again. GosuGamers had a chance to catch up with Yamateh for a short interview about the merger.

What made you decide to merge the two teams together?
-"Well, Sakura is busy with his own things, and as a team, there were a lot of times when the five of us couldn't train together. Under these circumstances, MUFC approached me and suggested a merger. And that's basically how it happened"

With Winter on the team, will you still be drafting? Or will Winter draft for Kingsurf now?
-"I will be letting Winter do the drafting. As he has a special way of drafting and I believe that with Winter drafting, the team will be much stronger."

But you will still be the captain of the team right?
-"Yes. I am still the captain of the team since I am one of the longest standing member of the team. *laughs*"

Do you think that the new Ks.LGD.MUFC is stronger than the old Kingsurf?
-"Yes I do. Since now we can train more together. Also with Winter, one of the best drafters around, we are able to discuss our mistakes together much more easily."

So what are the future plans of the team? Planning on joining any tournaments? And hopefully winning them.
-"We don't really have any big plans right now, as for what will happen in the future that is totally unknown. That's why we are afraid to predict anything at the moment. But we will do our very best in every game we play and bring us back to our prime in 2007 and 2008."
