Time with The Elder Gods

GosuGamers took time to catch up with The Elder Gods, one of the oldest and most well known teams around from Romania. Ly0n so kindly took the time off to do an extremely indepth interview for the readers' viewing pleasure. So without further ado, dive into the words of TeG-Ly0n

a45afa74a30061b96fcd455dabf30c56241b1cc81180770062a4b5beb5.jpgHey there Ly0n. Could you give a quick introduction of yourself so that we can get this interview going.
-"My name is Chenderes Ovidiu Leon, known in the DotA scene as "Ly0n" and I am playing for The Elder Gods."

Alright cool. How about an introduction to your team, The Elder Gods.
-"Sure no problem. RMP is one of the most well known Romanian DotA players, and without any doubt, the best support player in Romania. So RMP is our fixed supporter for the team and very well known for his epic Chen. Coco is a very good DotA player and very funny guy, he maintains the good atmosphere in our team with his jokes. He usually plays the ganker role and occasionally plays support. Sony plays the carry and occasionally gank role. Let's just say he is a perfectionist. He gets really angry when he misses or fails in game. That makes him very dedicated to the game. Freezer is an all-rounder. He really can play every role, even support but he usually plays carry most of times and he makes most of the calls in game.

I feel that it is great that there is the one team per country rule.
Pretty cool mates you have there. Moving on to the ESWC teams, what are your thoughts on the participating teams?
-"I feel that it is great that there is the one team per country rule. Its the best the way it is."

Well Germany has two teams. What do you feel about that?
-"Yea, but OK has only two German players?"

Actually OK has three German players.
-"Ah, Kuroky *laughs*. I don't know, they are like representing Europe. Being a mix of DK DE and SWE, I think they deserve the spot even if there is another DE team. I am not against that."

OK and MYM are using stand in players. Do you think that will improve or affect the team chemistry
-"At this point of time and knowing that they played a lot of games together, in leagues like, IDEC, EEDL and DotA.Pride, I don't think that it will affect their team chemistry at all."

So let's say if you had a choice of replacing one of your teammates with a much better/well known player. would you do it?
-"No, not at all. That answer is from my heart and I sincerely mean that."

Their game is based 80% on farming but their timing is impeccable.
Alright cool. Enough about European teams, let's talk about the Asian teams. How do you feel towards the Asian teams that are attending?
-"OK, this is a tough question because we never played against them, at least not in the time that I have been in TeG. I have heard that they are the best and I agreed with that from the replays I have watched about them. Their game is based 80% on farming but their timing is impeccable. If they have heroes that have a combined stun time of four seconds, the gank will end in four seconds."

So having no experience playing against Asian teams, does that mean TeG are still virgins against Asian DotA?
-"Yea I guess you could say that. However LAN tournaments can change a lot of things."

... the top teams would have an hard time defeating us.
Are you looking forward to breaking the team's virginity at ESWC?
-"*laughs* Nice question. We are looking to do our best in France, that's all. We have played with a lot of top level teams and beaten some of them but sometimes due to careless mistakes, we lose to smaller, unknown teams and every DotA player or fan out there would expect us to defeat the smaller teams with ease. However that is not always true, we lost focus against some of the smaller teams and lost so the fans lost faith in us. Anyway, when there are high stakes in a game, the smaller teams would not be an issues and the top teams would have a hard time defeating us."

Nice rickroll. Alright then. Which team are you personally looking forward to play with at ESWC?
-"I am not looking forward to face any team. I am looking forward in beat every team we face."

How about one particular team that you would really like to face?
-"MYM!"

Ok cool. Let's do some comparison between Asian and European teams. Who do you think will have an upper hand on LAN?
-"Nothing much really to compare as far as i see it. There are two very different styles. Everyone says that Asian teams will "rape" the European teams but I beg to differ and I am pretty confident about that. If we look back, an Asian team won the last ESWC so statistically they have the upper hand."

The Asian teams were just better. Not extremely better.
What are you confident that it would not be a "rape" at this ESWC?
-"Because last time, it was not really a "rape". The Asian teams were just better. Not extremely better. The old SK team, lost an easy game and did not make it to the playoffs. I could safely say that if SK had won the game, there would be one European team in the finals."

Interesting. Prediction time! So which teams do you think will reach top four?
-"Ah. This is a question I don't really want to answer. The answer would just break my heart. *sad face*"

I don't want a sad face! I want answers!
-"1st DTS, 2nd Nirvana. My, 3rd Blight, 4th Aeon. As for breaking my heart because you forced me to answer, the next time I see you, I am going to kill you! *smiles*"

I am glad I am not going to Paris! Lets talk about strategies, whose going to be in the drafter seat and any special strategies prepared?
-"S0ny will be in the blue/pink seat and we been spending tons of time training with top level teams, some which would be attending ESWC as well. As for special strategies, I don't think we have any prepared."

I would like to think that a European team will take the first place
You ranked DTS as first, meaning champions. Any particular reasons why?
-"I would like to think that a European team will take the first place and I feel they got better chances that DDT, MYM and OK plus I like them. *smiles*"

Your teams has been ranked pretty highly by some of the top level teams. Do you think the top teams will see TeG as a dark horse?
-"Like I said before, the top teams know that we are a tough team to beat that's why we been ranked pretty highly."

Any other teams that come to your mind that may cause an upset at ESWC?
-"I do not think there would be any surprises."

Why not?
-"Well I feel that the top teams will just dominate the tournament give no chance to the lesser teams."

Alright, quick change on topic? How do you feel about your trip to Paris and any plans?
-"I am very excited about the trip and I am looking forward to it. ESWC will end on 3rd July for DotA and we will only be leaving on 5th July so we most probably will spend time sight seeing and visit Mickey mouse."

The Frenchmen are going to try and get misery drunk so he can't play. Are u guys going to do something similar?
-"*laughs* We don't need to do that."

One last question before we do the shoutouts. There were rumors that Vigoss made a come back but it turns out to be false. What do u think would happen if he really did make a comeback and will be going to ESWC??
-"Nothing much really. He was a great player back in 6.48b but I feel his skills have deproved over time."

I guess I got to agreed with you there. Alright then. Shout out time!
-"To my best friend ! "MeSSe" and to my brother "Iguana". That's all."

Alright Thanks a lot for your time. All the best for you at ESWC.
-"I enjoyed talking to you, anytime. Thank you for your good wishes"
