With ESWC inching ever closer, its time to catch up with one of the most notable European teams around, DDT

GosuGamers continues with its Pre-ESWC interviews, this time we talk to Ducky of Ducky's Dream team. So read on and enjoy!

Thanks ducky for taking this time to be interviewed. First things first, while you are a household name in the DotA community, some users may not know you well yet. Care to do an introduction?
-"Quack, Quack Quack"

And there you have it. Ducky's introduction. So lets get on to the main interview. Can you give us a low down on who will be playing at ESWC and what role each player will be playing?
-"We still haven't decided who will be the starting five yet, but plan is to go with all six along with our manager Broesly, who of course wont be considered to play.

So DDT will be going to Paris with six players then?
-"Yea and a manager but ESWC rules says we cant have s substitute, so we will have to choose a five man team before it starts."

Interesting, but I am sure the team has an idea who will be doing the all so important drafting by now right?
-"We really don't know yet, but our bootcamp will tell, depends what the team wants. Loda has great exp on LANs, but he hasn't been so active lately so we will figure out how to draft and do stuff when we know the final five."

Bootcamp? When would that be?
-"We're go to Copenhagen on the 25th along with MYM and will be playing 3-4 days with them. So both teams will be sharp, hopefully we will get an Scandanavia winner by doing so"

Interesting, moving on then. As the teams participating is more or less confirmed by now. What do you think about all the teams involved? Do you like the diversity of it? Or you think some don't deserve the slot?
-"I think there are some deserving teams that didn't get invited like StarsBoba. But then again I'm happy with the tournament, it will be challenge and there will be some walkovers in my opinion. I think DTS, DDT and TeG are the European favorites."

Lets talk a bit about the Asian teams shall we? As its been such a hot topic since SMM finished.
-"Sure, lets talk about them."


Regarding the Asian teams, what do you think about them? Like what do u think of their chances at ESWC?
-"They have potential and they are probably the favorites but I don't believe in them too much as they will be playing on our home field now."

So you think that the Europeans have a better chance at winning ESWC this time around?
-"For sure, but anything can happen, depends on the form of the day, the spirit of the team, the drafting, the synergy and some other factors."

What do u think of the top contending teams from Asia? Namely EHOME, Nirvana.my and AEON
-"They are all frightening opponents, but they are not without flaws. Every team has their weaknesses, and every team has its good and bad days.

So has the team found out their flaws and weaknesses? or is that top secret for now?
-"Time will tell."

Why does every of the pros keep saying that? "Time will tell"
-"Because its true." *laughs*

Lets get on to the next question then. A lot of users have been commenting that DDT and DTS have the biggest chance at beating the Asians at their game due to the two team's experience in China for ADL. What do you have to say to that?
-"Well Asian teams are not unbeatable. They are perfectionist, but no one is perfect, DTS and DDT are more crazy in their play, take chances and stuff, and it pays off sometime, and other time it fails."

So your saying the experience in China would not be as much help?
-"Sure it would, we know how they play, a lot teams coming to ESWC don't have that experience."

So what other teams do u think will stand a good chance against the Asians? Besides DDT and DTS.
-"TeG. I think these are the only 3 EU teams that can beat the Asians. At least these are the teams hardest for the Asians to play against."

The only three as in DDT, DTS and TeG?
"Yep. that's what i believe."

Why don't you think MYM and OK have a good chance as well? Both teams have players with some experience with the Asian teams.
-"What exp has OK with Asian teams? Kuroky? He will be leader? Or as stand-in? I just think MYM plays too much by the books to face the Asians 120%, might change after our bootcamp. Nirvana int might have a chance but they are not EU."

Why do u think nirvana might have a chance then?
-"Puppey and Fear are both sharp in mind and play. It all comes down to if they can come together as a team."

So who are your personally top four picks for the finals?
"Hard to say really, depends on brackets and stuff, but we will be there, TeG will be there if they don't face off with DTS or us and AEON might be there. and you never know the last."

One of the factors that fans think that the Europeans wont be able to win is due to the fact that the European replays are released to the public more allowing the Asians to study them. What do u think to that? Seeing there are more replays of the Asians nowadays.
-"Sure Asians are scouting. We know that, but we don't care. We will rape them with our spirit. EU>WORLD."

Being a pro yourself, what are your outlooks regarding teams such as MYM, OK and Nirvana.int adding subs for ESWC? Do u think it makes them weaker or stronger?
-"Time will tell. I think Baby and Kuro are excellent players but you never know how it will work out.
