SMM has just ended a week ago. EHOME's manager, 71 blogs about his experience at SMM.
EHOME.71 gave his thoughts about the new DotA version, saying that it is boring. He also included what the players thought about the new version. Its all the same, boring. EHOME had it translated into English and brought to you exclusively to GosuGamers. Check out the full blog below:
After reading Kuroky's new blog, it's my honor to be mentioned by. Once we arrived in Beijing at 2:00 am local time, we had to devote ourselves to AlienWare DotA League and we hadn't shared the experience we had during SMM. Getting second runners up at SMM was acceptable, yet we were not satisfied. We must congratulate FTD on being crowned SMM champion and cD on clinching first runner ups. As we mentioned before, FTD is a potential and powerful team who has in-depth thoughts on 6.64 version and they showed it at SMM.
CH only got 6th place which didn't conform to their capability. Only if you watched how PI behaved so excitedly playing against EHOME and CH, you would understand how you should play and release yourself in a LAN (to our disappointment, we didn't have the video). Listen to me, this is real game.
There are too many teams and strategies that attracted our eyes. Pardon me for not listing all of them. But you can find these common points in crucial games:
1. Every team has 3 carries
2. Few battles and kills
3. Average time above 60 minutes.
Let me explain this from the angle of EHOME players. When we prepared for SMM at the very beginning, we kept playing gank against the strategy of three carries and two supporters; it was very miserable and painful that we only won several games. And the truth is that you have to keep updated and use three carries to win in the 6.64 version.
After changing our style, we found the path to victory. It is easier to play counter-gank compared to ganking. When you find the opponent's heroes on a lane with HP above 1200 and fail to gank in seconds because you realize that the opponents have TPs to save him or maybe there is an Earth shaker hiding behind. Then what's gonna happen? Your opponents will kill you or maybe push tower on their lane or go for Roshan. When all the teams understood this, the game will became boring and cowardly.
CH.Crystal talked about one training game against cD. The length of the game is about one hour and the total kills are about 10/10. You would need a bucket of coffee to keep awake when you watch this replay. In the real games, there will be more kills near the end because of teams start getting busy with Backdooring and buying out after death. Is this a game about farming more money?
My above thoughts were confirmed by many Asian teams along with MYM and PI. I want to point out that a game will probably die without a large number of audience. And the best way to please the audience is to keep the length and rhythm of the game short and fast by lots of ganking.
Allow me put part of the summary on SMM when we held a meeting in Sichuan University:
DGC: Every day I only do two things, creep in jungle or hang out behind the carry. If this is DotA, I'm ready to retire next year.
820: When I'm hit by opponents, the first reaction is to step back. Because being a key carry, it will be fatal to die once or fail to buy out and probably one lane will be pushed through or just GG. This version sucks and bores me.
357: Our slogan in any LAN from now on will be "Break the trend of two protecting three"
I hope to work with dota.Replays.net and MYM.dota to consult professional players' ideas on revision of this DotA version. Hopefully, ICEFROG will make an excellent revision. Anyway, don't let the audience sleep!
