With help from WGTour's head coder Ilintar, PGTour might be up sooner than we may think.
What's up with PGTour? They have been down since the hack attack, and according to a source nothing has been made in the PGTour shell. And WGTour's assosciation with Battle.Net? The WGTour administrator Ilintar tells GosuGamers that he intends in bringing it back up.
- I'm really a community person, I work for WGTour but I help the community, he says.
Do you remember the 5th of September when GosuGamers reported that PGTour.net was hacked? Lots of content went missing and the hack-free ladder used by thousands went down. In fact, a source tells us that all content is lost all the way back from season eight. Nothing has been made after the hacker attempt, apart from Ilintar closing the back doors the hacker left open. It is still uncertain when PGTour will be up, and with WGTour not being up as well, people really long for a ladder to play on.
Ilintar thinks that PGTour has been down for so long because of the major letdown with getting things destroyed when doing it for free. Ilintar explains that he felt the same way when WGTour was hacked a couple of years ago.
- I was really considering just throwing it all away and resigning - that's how you feel if you do stuff for free and then some stupid kid just deletes it, Ilintar explains.
The new patch that was released in August this year boasted with WGTour taking over their ladder, but after two months, nothing has come out of it. The WGTour situation is in the hands of Blizzard. Ilintar tells us that they have to enable the Battle.Net templates for WGTour first, and their Quality Assurance team needs to test it before enabling it; something that may start withing two weeks.
While waiting for WGTour to be back up, Ilintar was very eager in getting PGTour back up. Now you might ask, why is the WGTour's head coder helping their rivals PGTour?
- I'm really a community person, I work for WGTour but I help the community, he says. He further adds that he understands that people want a ladder, and he's tired of waiting. And the reason for PGTour not being up at the moment is, according to Ilintar that Pat and Chr1s haven't got the time. Pat has given Ilintar full access and a green light in recovering the backups. Ilintar also tells GosuGamers that he has the access to bring it up on his own but that once it's up it still needs a leader - and if it comes up it will be Pat. However the image server is still down, and without it PGTour can not be brought back. It can't be commenced until the domain is re-registered and brought back up.
- You need the head admins of server admins to do server stuff, but once it's up 99& of the work is done by the normal admins.
So, whether Ilintar helps PGTour up on its feet again they still need the head admins to step up. When will the bear rise? Time will tell.
