It was confirmed on that Blizzard will not host their annual convention in 2012. Instead, the company's attention will be focused on their upcoming titles and the next edition of the World Invitational.

In October 2011, Anaheim hosted the World Invitational that brought together some of the best StarCraft 2 players and World of WarCraft 3v3 arena teams. This year, the show is moving out of the United States and will travel to Asia.

The announcement of the Bnet World Invitational comes with the news that there will be no BlizzCon held this year. The annual convention will not return until 2013 because of Blizzard's busy schedule, that includes three titles currently under development.

Slated to take place in Asia toward the end of 2012, the World Championship will host this year’s StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship tournaments. Blizzard gamers and eSports fans from around the world will be invited to attend and witness some of the most skilled pro players on the planet battle it out for cash and glory.

We’re excited to be showcasing Blizzard eSports on a truly global stage this year. We're also heavily focused on getting Diablo III, Mists of Pandaria, and Heart of the Swarm into players’ hands as soon as possible. In light of our jam-packed schedule, we’ve decided to hold the next BlizzCon in 2013.

No further details about the World Invitational have been enclosed and such are to be revealed in the coming months.
