When the 16th season of the German ESL Pro Series concludes, WarCraft 3 will not be included. The players of the league received this information earlier today by the league administration.

- "After the finals we will close the chapter of WarCraft with 16 seasons in the highest German league. Some of you may hoped that, so ones can fully concentrate on StarCraft 2 in the upcoming summer. Nevertheless, some may be sad though," was what the players could read today.

The change could be seen as justified with the release date of StarCraft 2 being close to three months away.

Due to that, an increasing number of players and spectators can be absolutely ruled out and another season won't be economically possible.

- "Doubtlessly, WarCraft 3 will be played even after the EPS and there will be enough players for another season, but the EPS should have a dignified end in respect of the previous 16 seasons," said the league administrators.

Marc "yAwS" Förster (photo) was the last player to win ESL Pro Series. Daniel "miou" Holthius is with his six championship titles the player to have won it the most.

FIFA will also disappear from the ESL Pro Series after season 16. It is likely that Counter-Strike 1.6, Counter-Strike: Source, Quake Live, Dawn of War II and Call of Duty will remain with the ESL phalanx.
