Fnatic make light work of NRG to move ahead in the VCT Masters Tokyo

Fnatic defeated NRG to move on to the upper-bracket semifinals.

The VCT EMEA and LOCK//IN champions showed just why they're currently the best team in the world after taking out NRG 2-0 to send them to the lower bracket. With that decisive victory, Fnatic now moves on to the upper-bracket semifinals where they await the winners between Paper Rex and DRX.

As for NRG, they will still get a second chance at redemption via the lower bracket where they will face the loser between PRX and DRX. Despite being the second seed from the VCT Americas, NRG were no match for Fnatic in both maps.

The first game took place on Fnatic's choice of Fracture. Both teams would not be able to get any real momentum going in the first half, drawing 6-6 heading into the break. But Fnatic made sure to start the second half strong, which enabled them to win five rounds in a row, putting them within two of winning. While NRG did manage to claim three straight rounds, they couldn't capitalise on it, which allowed Fnatic to rally back and win back-to-back rounds to claim the first game.

We moved to Bind for map two, which was NRG's pick and it didn't turn out so well for them. Fnatic would win the first two rounds of game two before NRG responded with back-to-back wins of their own. Unfortunately, it was from then on did Fnatic go on to a nine-round undefeated streak before NRG claimed two more rounds of their own.

But by then it was too late. Fnatic were once again just two rounds away from closing out the series and NRG could not contain them. Fnatic as a whole looked much more well-equipped for a playoff bracket series as compared to NRG, who had more time to warm up having started in the group stage.

Fnatic will be looking to have another international trophy under their belt with the VCT LOCK//IN title already part of the cabinet. They are currently two wins away from yet another grand finals appearance.
