VCT Champions 2022 – Playoffs: FunPlus Phoenix won against Leviatán in first lower bracket match

The South American representative was the first team to be eliminated from the Playoffs.

The parallel series for Champions Istanbul has begun – the Lower Brackets is where the teams that were knocked down from the Upper Bracket will be fighting to see if they can stay in the competition.  The first match was between FunPlus Phoenix and Leviatán in a Group A versus Group C game.

Icebox was the opening map, where FPX immediately went on the offensive – leading the way with a four-point lead by the end of the first half. FPX continued their offensive stance in the second half as Leviatán tried to catch up, but FPX wrapped up the game by round 19, with a score of 13-6.

Leviatán started strong in the second map, Ascent, where they blocked FPX from winning any points until round 7. Because of that, the South American led the first half by two points. FPX however rose to grab back the series from the guys from LATAM and played the map all the way to round 24. They managed to snatch the victory from the hands of Leviatán and win the map 13-11.

FPX moves on to the next round of the Lower Brackets, where they will be meeting the loser of the match between OpTic Gaming and XSET. Leviatán meanwhile had the dubious honour of being the first team to be eliminated from the Champions Istanbul Playoffs.
