VCT Champions 2022: XSET shows why they are ranked number two in NA

They defeated Xerxia in a very close match that could have ended the other way.

Group C’s opening match began with a battle between NA and APAC. XSET met up with Xerxia to see who is the better team in Group C. The games played were close enough that the results could have gone either way if Xerxia would have pushed a bit harder in their play.

The match started off with Fracture, and it was a close game we can tell you that much. Both teams played at a very similar level in the first half, with XSET only managing to eke out a single-point lead by the end of round 12. In the second half, both teams ping-ponged with each other and while both teams played to a draw in the second half, the one-point lead earlier was enough to give XSET the win, 13-11.

On Icebox, the story was the same as both teams played to their heart’s content where XSET again finished the first half with a one-point lead. The second half saw XERXIA faltering a bit – which XSET took advantage of to secure enough points to put them in front and win by round 23. XSET won 13-10.

The win gave XSET enough points to be at the top of the table for Group C, and Xerxia bumped to the bottom and a place in the Elimination Match. Xerxia will be meeting the loser of the FPX vs KRU match, while XSET will be meeting the winner.

VCT Champions Istanbul is happening from 31 August until 18 September in Istanbul, with the Playoffs set to be played in front of a live audience at Volkswagen Arena from 9 September 2022.
