The stealthy Dark Templar has finally been revealed on the StarCraft2.com website. One of the most iconic and powerful units in the StarCraft universe is back brandishing two blades instead of one.
Near midnight (EST) last night, sightings of the Dark Templar page had already been posted. Teamliquid.net even had a thread opened just for that as players searched the StarCraft2.com website up and down for even more clues on the Dark Templar page. The Dark Templar is a unit employed in various strategies to cripple the enemies army, economy, and morale. There is nothing more disheartening then the translucent silhouette of a blade toting templar wandering around in your base. The Dark Templar's invisibility is an asset, but there biggest advantage would be their uncanny ability to destroy a probe or drone with one swing. Luckily for fans of the Protoss, the Dark Templars have retained this ability in StarCraft 2.
The Dark Templar page offers three clips; one of the Dark Templar in motion, one of two Dark Templars wasting away probes (crowd favourite), and one of a camera pan around a Dark Templar coming into and out of invisibility. The page also provides a bit of background and history into the Dark Templar. The concept picture however seems to have given the Dark Templar a bit of teeth, but maybe it's just armor. Who knew?
