Highlander Finals are here!

The Highlander tournament just finished off the Semis with Idra vs DinOt and White-ra vs IefNaij. Exciting games and the ordinary doze of drama when Idra is involved!

If you have missed it, the Highlander is a tournament run by Incontrol with the prize money of $1020 for the winner and the winner only, second place gets a SC2 betakey. Which isn't too bad either.

Upsets
It had some of the biggest names in the foreign scene playing, and most of them have been eliminated by now. Surprises and upsets have marked these matches. Ret was taken down by German HoRRoR and ZvP master Mondragon was takend won by White-Ra (proving that White-Ra (and IefNaij) is indeed in good shape now. Squall also managed to take down GG.net fourth ranked Fenix in the first round, only to get eliminated himself in the second round by Tarson. I am happy I have not bet any money on these games.

Sweden was also very well represented for once, with four players in the ro32. However all of them got eliminated in the first round.

Semifinals and Idrama
Jumping up to the semifinals, that just ended. Surprise of the event, probably bigger than Ret losing to HoRRoR, was DinOt taking down Idra 3-2. Apparantly a lot of zerglings were involved. Naturally a result like that is going to provide some excellent drama. If only the Brood War scene had a tabloid paper! Anyway, link to drama thread at TeamLiquid.net provided below.

The other semifinal ended with White-Ra beating IefNaij. White-Ra has so far only dropped two games in total the entire tournament, one to Tarson (winning 3-1) and now one to IefNaij (winning 3-1). An impressive record, he does indeed seem to be on fire now! Though he did lose 2-1 to fOsc.Yan, one of the players of fOsc's ICCup clan league lineup that was not a Korean merc, his Highlander record is still more important with more money on stake.

The Grand Final
So as a final we will be seeing Ukrainian grandpa toss White-Ra vs the Chilean monster Zerg DinOt. It's next Saturday at 21.00 CET, and it's BO7.
