StarCraft II Community Feedback Update - March 8th

On March 8th the developers of StarCraft II released a new Community Feedback Update discussing important topics about the game.

As seen in the StarCraft II Forum, the developers posted a new Community Feedback on March 8, focusing on the issue of Balance at different points during the game, Siege Tank and Ravager change, the potential split between bio and mech, and Zerg’s strength.

Addressing the issue of balance, the devs made clear that they aim for gameplay diversity in Legacy of the Void, as opposed to Wings of Liberty, where a standard strategy could successfully be applied to multiple situations. This is why they want to create more action-packed moments throughout the game, as well as work on map diversity, to finally ensure that each game feels more unique.

Considering the Siege Tank, the option of removing Siege mode pick up is rejected. The alternative method of picking up Siege Tanks in Siege mode, with them reverting to normal while carried by the Medivac has failed, so the devs are now planning to adjust the firing delay upon being dropped. More and more testing are going to show what is best regarding this issue. Meanwhile, considering the Ravager change, the increased cooldown on the Corrosive Bile Ability seems to work as desired, so the developers are sticking to it for the time being.

The devs are also focused on receiving feedback on the Terran compositions, since they are divided between completely splitting bio and mech and exploring diversity in mixed compistions. Mech only games are definitely of less interest, while compositions that are not bio-only produce more diversity and excitement. Whether the devs are going to return to the bio and mech split or go for more diversity, depends on the community feedback.

When it comes to Zerg, the stats have been quite contradictive. The devs point out that numbers cannot help make accurate assumptions on Zerg’s strength or weakness and games happening in different areas show different performances. It is apparent that there is a balance issue that should definitely be solved, but, apart from that, the current plan of the developers is to explore and prepare Zerg changes.
