To Beta, or Not to Beta. That is the Question.

The pushback of the Starcraft II release was an upset to many, but Blizzard never mentioned the beta. The question now is, will they launch the beta this summer as they said, or will we have to wait for the beta as well?

I've been one of those who was more than certain that the beta would be launching during the BlizzCon this summer, and I even thought they would fire the gun even earlier, starting the beta mid July, and then announce a releasedate for the game at BlizzCon, but I might just be a dreamer, as that obviously's not going to happen.

Chris Sigaty said, in an interview with shacknews, that the beta will be out when it's ready, and didn't really want to answer to if he should be optimistic or not on a launch this summer. He does not, however, state that the beta won't start this summer, or during BlizzCon. That makes me wonder, how can they announce the pushback of Starcraft 2 without hesitation, but keep their mouths shut when it comes to the beta? If they are sure they won't start the betatesting during BlizzCon or this summer they should've confirmed that already?

The main reason for the pushback of the release was because Battle.net 2.0 wasn't ready yet, and recently the Battle.net forums have been having login problems. Other rumors claim that this is because Blizzard might be updating Battle.net just days before BlizzCon starts, and that this might mean that they're preparing a betalaunch.

Finally I'd just like to say, Blizzard always gives us something big at BlizzCon. What big announcement can they possibly pull through that will amaze us except for a betalaunch? A new World of Warcraft dance? Hopefully not. BlizzCon starts in approximately two days, make sure you don't miss our coverage from Blizzard Convention Center, Anaheim.
