Gamingeye Allstar 2005

[s]event[/s]

Allstar tournaments are classics when it comes to Swedish StarCraft gaming, as well as Racewars or their long King of the Hill series. Just recently, the last player was qualified for Gamingeye's third edition of the Allstar Tour - 2005! GosuGamers gives you the history of the previous Allstar tournaments.

The Brood War stars are about to compare their minds... again!

Something that Gamingeye is known for is their Allstar Tour, originally hosted in 2002, where the Swedish and Norwegian elite played eachother. With a total of 16 players where ten were invited and six had to qualify for the tournament. After group stages and finally a playoff, it was the Norwegian sVEN who took home the Allstar 2002 tournament by defeating the Swede SaFT in the Grand Final. The tournament was a big success, and many interesting and exciting games were played.

Revived with a TV show style - big failure

expeditionallstar.jpgIt was revived again in 2004 after a nifty initiative where the format was like the famous TV show Survivor, in Sweden called Expedition: Robinson. The tournament was called Expedition: Allstar 2004 and had a lot of special features, like two big teams who were to play eachother like clanwars. When one team (North or South) lost, they had to remove a player by voting. This was the idea, but it never took off, and was cancelled due to lack of player interest.

Back to the original 2002 style - best of Norway and Sweden

This year, Gamingeye has decided to go back to the original Allstar Tour 2002 style, with a mix of Norwegians and Swedes in four groups. Also, a Dane has 4feaf050d1bc9c2a3c0eef8f7678e44a4a8ffb59756a39fa3775f7dc63been invited; none other than Avi-Love, member of Gamingeye.bw, and one of Denmark's most known players. The two best players advances to a Double Elimination playoff. Earlier today, the last of the four qualification tournaments was played, and the one to take the 16th and thereby last spot was TuFFeR, a Swedish player, previously member of Team Sweden. Other players who qualified for the tournament was BW-DowN, eye.ZpuX (picture) and eye.Avi-Love.

Too bad the reigning champion is missing

925b3ec2caf26bc18aeb965486edce51bab9689f680133e904cedf5049A very nice mix of oldschool players (such as Dealer, KeNKa, JessE [picture] and StinGeR) and some of the newer players. The group stage will be highly interesting to follow, where each match will be played best of three and there are a couple of legends playing, especially among the Swedes. A bit of a disappointment to not see the reigning Allstar champion sVEN in the tournament, but the Gamingeye administration said that they did their best and that many players had to cancel their participation. "We did the best we could and we are very satisfied with the player lineup we present here." writes PAtriot, Gamingeye admin in the feature article.

Updates and GosuBets to await

The group stage will take place next week, on October 29th at 16:00 CET. GosuGamers will provide you with updates on the tournament for you who do not know the Swedish language. A couple of GosuBets will most likely also be added. Stay tuned!
