PuertoRican

[s]interview[/s]

Global Gaming League is slowly but surely growing. The power of money can never be ignored. At their site they have interviewed a Starcraft player who will probably give you a better idea of what is going on at GGL than anyone else in our community.

The first time I met PuertoRican was at WCG this year and he impressed me as the typical American Starcraft player. I am very sure PuertoRican's online personality is exactly the same as his offline personality. He is a friendly guy who is not shy of saying what he thinks even if it does get him in trouble. He is a great TeamLiquid fan and an even greater GGL fan.

His name is Rick Sanchez and his family origins are from Puerto Rico and he wears the Puerto Rican flag wereever he goes. Here is a photo I took of him so you understand what I mean. As for the interview, it is from June this year and be warned that he is a little biased as he represents GGL on a PR level.

Let me give you a small excerpt of this short interview.
GGL has 4 different Real-Time Strategy ladders now, offering a whopping $20,000 in cash prizes. What is your reaction to a cash prize that big for online play? And what effects will it have on the RTS community?

As for my own reaction, I am amazed and happy at the same time. I fully support GGL and everything it's doing, and I will continue to do so. As for the effects, I'd say each season it gets bigger, we're currently in the 2nd season of GGL and we already have almost all the top non-Korean gamers in the ladder, although we're missing some. Things will only get bigger. By next season the ladder will be filled with Koreans, and I will lose ;)

Currently their Starcraft ladder top 5 places are held by Americans, with
United States Artosis leading the pack and United States PuertoRican himself holding the very honorable fourth position. As you can see despite this league having had
Australia Legionnaire and United States Rekrul competing in it, and GGL offering insane prizes, it still has not caught on in Korea. You can check their ladder standings here » GGL Starcraft Ladder

You can read it all at » GGL News: Interview with Puerto RicanUpdateA reply from PuertoRican himself that gives us a little more insight on GGL.

I'm glad to see this site do articles on www.GGL.com because it's USA's only real chance at having this type of league, CPL is a joke which everyone knows, but the main reason the sc ladder isnt too big yet is because this season it was decided to have a long ladder season, which is over this month on the 29th.

The prizes are really worth it, Artosis is going to receive a new AMD computer just for placing 1st in the regular season, not counting the money he will win for placing top 10 in the playoffs, prize list is here if you're curious: http://www.ggl.com/view_ladder_prizes.php?PoolId=10

The more people play in this ladder, and show more love for it, it will only get bigger, the sponsors are showing love, if you take a look through the site, you'll see a bunch of big name companys contributing to GGL's events.

Anyhoo, don't wanna drag on, keep up the love and support for GGL, it's appreciated.
