[s]pictureoftheweek[/s]Many of you may not know but during the past year GosuGamers.net has slowly but surely been growing in numbers of viewership. We had our objective graphs of potential growth and planned growth along with our plans to achieve it. We decided to aggresively cover WCG as part of our site mission.

11985 unique visitors
All this could never have perpared us for the actual results of our plans. The pinnacle of this growth occured during our live week long WCG coverage.
1.5 million hits worldwide forcing us to have to triple our already phat bandwidth quota. We could not have achieved this without the unconditional support of our hosting partner X-term Networks who performed admirably during the surge in bandwidth usage. Our peak of vistitors broke all previous records; 11985 unique visitors during one day.

We have all worked hard for this ongoing success story and we will keep working even harder. We have still a few ideas that we will try in the hopes of serving our community better. What drives us? Passion. We have and probably will remain non-profit until the game Starcraft dies or we die. In the future this does not preclude us from aquiring assets to cover event expenses and pump back into the site and hopefully one day be able to offer VOD and video content.

New GosuGamers version
We are also proud to announce that we have started the work on a new version of our website, version 3, and we will release it during Dreamhack Winter, 27th November 2004. The team previously known as the programming team, now under the alias "The Development team", (consisting of five Swedes, check the Crew for more information) has started the work a few weekends ago and so far the result looks very promising.

Anyway, now to celebrate our moment we will leave you with a POTW and a very short video.

Midas[gm]

Now for an interesting anecdote for all of you. Early on in the week at WCG I found Germany Fisheye[pG] in the elevator, sick as a dog too with fever and cough. He even asked me if the pills he had bought for fever would make him sleepy or not. Fortunately he had bought plain anti-febriles so I told him not to worry. Despite this he managed to reach the the Round of 16 only to be eliminated by Midas[gm] himself in a straight forward 0-2. Fisheye however did not go down without a fight and gave him the plague. Maybe shear coincidence or maybe a very fast incubation period, I am not sure, but 48 hours later South Korea Midas[gm] was actually very sick during the final with fever due to an upper respiratory infection which might explain his weaker than expected performance against the unbelievably strong South Korea Xellos.

We all know Xellos was my favorite to win prior to the event but after meeting him in person and watching him play I understood clearly that there was no stopping him and that he would easily win the WCG this year, even with a healthy Midas. Many confuse his shyness with arrogance but they are wrong. The Koreans at WCG were friendly and very well mannered. Despite their shy nature, the language barrier and our occidental ways they always made time for anyone that approached them. Behind their humble attitude there was a deep pride and determination to give their best. This is after all the greatest sign of respect you can give any fellow competidor.

Enough chit chat, here we leave you with » a short video of Xellos. (right-click save as if it does not work)

Xellos: I love GosuGamers! -.-V

We want to thank Xellos, Midas and the Korean Team Leader (Kyo Nam Cho) for the time and attention they gave us.
