J.C. Tran Leads into Day 2 of WPT Legends of Poker

J.C. Tran leads into Day 2 of the 10th season World Poker Tour kickoff event Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. There was a mixed reaction at first to the change this year that saw the buy-in drop from $5,000 to $3,500, but allowed a re-entry if you bust the first day. The main event saw 757 entrants over Day 1A and 1B.

On Day 1B, 25% of it's 435 players (116 of the 181 players that bust on Day 1A), bought back in for another shot. They incuded Allen Kessler, Matt Affleck, Kathy Liebert, Owen Crowe, Ali Eslami, Sam Stein, Faraz Jaka and reigning Legends of Poker Champ Andy Frankenberger.

In particular JC Tran benefited most from the re-entry ending Day 1B as the clear chip leader.

Some Notables who finished with above average stacks include Paul Lieu (148,000), Owen Crowe (138,500), and 2010 WPT winner Taylor von Kriegenbergh (133,400).

340 of the combined 757 entrants move on to Day 2 that will play out on Saturday.

Only 81 of those players will make the money and the initial $7,000 payday.

The winner will collect a hefty $758,085, slightly greater than Andy6 Frankenberger's prize for winning last year.

Top 10 chip stacks after combined Day 1A and 1B:

1. J.C. Tran - 265,000
