Byzantium was chosen out of 17 maps through a three month long test period. The map is made by Song Ki Bum who is the creator of well-known maps Luna and Rush Hour. Iris, Bisu, sAviOr and the rest of the Survivor participants will play on the map in the winners and losers final in the group stage. Other maps in the MBCGame Survivor tournament are Athena and Blue Storm.
The name Byzantium is from an ancient Greek city, named after king Byzantas. The city later evolved to be the center of the Byzantine Empire under the name Constantinople. The city is now known as Istanbul, and is Turkey's largest city.
- Every Protoss should go 14nexus because it's such a long map. I cant foresee any other problems on it yet, says Artosis to GosuGamers about the map and think it will be tough for Terran.
