The 2012 Asia Pacific Poker Tour Cebu Main Event wrapped up Monday, and it was Hoang Anh Do who walked away with the PHP 5,927,000 first-place prize. Do bested a field of 246 players to become champion, just a handful more than the 236 players that entered the event last year.

Amit Varma held the chip lead for much of the event and was the favorite to win, coming into the final table with 1,241,000, almost a quarter million more than his closest competitor. But Do, who came to the final table with 810,000, proved tough competition, sending several of his opponents, including Varma in fifth place, in route to his victory.

Another notable player at the final table was ANZPT champion Michael Kanaan, who was looking to become only the third player ever to win both an ANZPT and an APPT event. Kanaan finished in fourth place after his pocket tens fell to the the A-Q of Nicholas Wong, the eventual runner-up.
