The groupstage of WCG is complete, and the playoffs are getting closer. Here's ESC.MaX, MaNa and Arew sharing their thoughts on the outcome of the groups, and with predictions for the playoffs.
What do you think about the outcome of the groupstage?
MaNa:
I'm a bit disappointed because none of the Polish players advanced, I really wanted to see Draco, Yayba or Paranoid in the top eight, but the best of the best players are already there. The level of this WCG was very high, and I had no idea who would advance of the foreigners.
ESC.MaX:
Well, i think we have seen more disappointments than real surprises. I'm ofcourse pretty sad that White-ra failed. No idea what happened vs Advokate but he didn't do too well against Idra. I also expected Brat_OK to finish 2nd in his group. But on the other hand I'm also happy for my former teammate Sen. And last but not least it's Kolll. I think he really did a great job again. I have a lot of respect that he's doing so well on these offline events, and I have some hopes that he can surprise us again vs Idra.
Arew:
In my opinion this outcome was kinda expected. Though I'm really surprised by Kolll's performance, he did great in the groupstage, and I hope he can do well in the playoffs as well. For me the biggest upsets were White-Ra and Draco for not making it through the groupstage.
What do you expect of the playoffs?
MaNa:
JaeDong is a pure win here, I don't think there's any chance for Advokate, even if he's a very great player amongst the foreigners. Bisu will, without any doubt, beat Sen. Stork vs Pj is more interesting however. I hope we'll see some good games, and I hope Pj will win so we'll have foreign 3rd place winner for sure. IdrA vs Kolll, I don't know much about Kolll, but IdrA's best matchup in my opinion is TvZ. I still cheer for Kolll though.
ESC.MaX:
I think we have two tight games and two clear matchups. Jaedong and Bisu will advance for sure, both 2-0. The other two games are going to be a lot closer. PJ played pretty good against Bisu, and I think he has a chance to win against Stork. He also has all the Chinese fans behind his back, so maybe he can take revenge for his loss in 2007. IdrA vs Kolll will be really interesting. IdrA is the favorite and he has the pressure on his shoulders. Kolll already achieved a lot and I do think that he can give him a tough fight.
Arew:
JaeDong against A2 will be a nice match, but in my opinion JaeDong will win, since Korean's micro is insane. Bisu will win 2-0 vs Sen - I don't think Bisu will drop any game to a foreigner at WCG this year. Stork against Pj is actually really hard to predict, since both are insane at PvP, but it would be really nice to see Pj winning this, but I don't know, I like them both.
