Team Liquid is the first team to bid goodbye to its VALORANT Champions 2023 journey.
Team Liquid's VALORANT Champions 2023 run was cut short after two they lost two series in the group stage. The team failed to win a single map for both the opening and elimination matches.
On the other hand, DRX pulled a huge upset against LOUD in the opening match. The games were pretty close but DRX were able to force the defending Champions in a do-or-die series against Team Liquid.
The series against Team Liquid was LOUD’s redemption arc. After the unexpected loss against DRX, fans doubted that they were in shape to take a back-to-back Champions title. A clean 2-0 sweep against Team Liquid was what LOUD needed to dodge an embarrassing exit.
The first game was a walk in the park for LOUD. The team asserted their dominance early on and dictated the pace of the game. LOUD seemed to always be a step ahead of Team Liquid’s plans.
Felipe “Less” de Loyola’ Killjoy was a key player for LOUD’s impenetrable defense. Less scored an impressive 18-6 with 266 ACS. LOUD stomped on Team Liquid who only managed to chalk out two rounds for the entire game.
LOUD’s momentum continued in the second game. Once again, LOUD won the bonus round and gave the team an early advantage. However, a thrifty win for Team Liquid set them to find their footing in the game.
Team Liquid successfully tied up the score when the first half ended. The team won the first two rounds and took a score lead for the first time.
LOUD was quick to retaliate and won seven consecutive rounds. This sealed the deal for LOUD as Team Liquid tapped out of the tournament.
Group D was deemed to be the toughest group with NAVI, Team Liquid, DRX, and LOUD duking it out for the two playoffs spot. DRX was the first to secure a seat on the main stage after they won against powerhouse teams LOUD and NAVI.
LOUD and NAVI will be fighting for the last ticket to the playoffs stage in a best-of-three decider series.
