Fl0w3r, Pine reunited in revamped LW Blue roster ahead of APEX Season 3

The DPS partners will play together again.

Much like other Korean teams which are taking advantage of the updated APEX rules allowing for eight players on a single roster, bronze finalists from season two LW Blue are undergoing a line-up update of their own, adding two more players in time for season three.

The highlight of the change will be the reuniting of DPS players Do-Hyun “Pine” Kim and Yeon-Oh “Fl0w3r” Hwang. Former team-mates from sister team LW Red, Pine and Fl0w3r achieved a handful of minor cup achievements early in the team’s history before Fl0w3r together with the majority of LW Blue’s roster reigned as champions at IEM Gyeonggi.

Following this success, Fl0w3r was swapped out for Won-Jae “NoName” Lee and transferred to LW Blue to permanently join the Gyeonggi championship line-up, which ended up finishing third in APEX Season 2. Losing its star player, the Red sister team struggled in the APEX challenger league and missed the Super Week top four by one position, leaving them with no chances to make their first main event appearance.

Sung-Sik “Sylph” Choi will be LW Blue’s eighth player for the upcoming APEX. A former support for both MVP Space and MVP Infinity, Sylph will reinforce an already strong back line of LW Blue consisting of Gyeong-Ho “Luna” Jang and Jin-Woo “Gambler” Heo.

LW Blue’s roster update is a classic move to consolidate power within the organization. Although LW Blue’s Season 3 journey will start with the arguably weakest group in the tournament, consisting of them and three former challenger teams, competition will become exponentially more difficult should the bronze finalist qualify for the top eight.
