New Control map Oasis now added to live servers

On the third day of 2017, Blizzard gave to us: Oasis, the new Control map featuring a few new mechanics.

Oasis has hit the live servers! The Control map, that was first shown at BlizzCon 2016, was playable on the PTR for the last few weeks, but has now made it to the live servers. Oasis has been added to all regions as well as all console versions.

Oasis is another map in the Control gamemode, meaning three different sections of the map are available with a Control point on each. The three sections are called:

  • Oasis: City Center, featuring the lethal cars and jump pad
  • Oasis: Gardens
  • Oasis: University

In case you don't have time to try out the map yourself, Blizzard has created the following video which should give you a sense of the artstyle and layout of the points:

First impressions of the pro community seems to be that the map is as 'bad' for competitive play as Ilios, so we might not be seeing this map drafted any time soon. For those events that have pre-determined maps, we should be seeing this map but only after Blizzard and the organizers decde that the teams have had enough time to practice.

Hope you all enjoy this map, and watch out for cheeky Symmetras trapping the jumppad!
