Thanks to the new Arcade mode, you can get an easy 4 extra lootboxes every week!
Lootboxes, or similar items, have been available in video games for a while. Especially free-to-play games make use of them to convince people to pay real money for uncertain rewards. Remember all those years of gambling with crates from Valve games such as Counter-Strike?
Luckily, Blizzard would never allow anything like to that to exist in the games they develop for people of all ages. But they did seem to like the idea of randomized loot, so they added lootboxes to Overwatch. And we can all agree that the excitement and reward that comes with opening lootboxes is appreciated.
Although the developers recently changed some things with experience distribution in terms of leveling your account, removing the event for fast levels after a prestige, they did add another way of gaining lootboxes: the Arcade.
For those unaware, who might stick to the competitive gamemodes in this game, you can get up to 4 easy lootboxes each week by playing/winning a bunch of Arcade games. The week resets on Tuesday, after which you can get the same 4 lootboxes again.
How do you get those 4 lootboxes? Simple:
- One is gained for winning a match of 1v1 Mystery Duel
- Three are gained for winning games in general in the Arcade; one is rewarded after every three wins
The first week will end in roughly 6 hours, so if you have not received all four of those lootboxes yet then hurry up, play some Arcade matches and maybe get some sweet Legendary skins in return!
