Overwatch Gosu “GosuGamers” Gamers

An entirely online tournament is coming to Overwatch this summer that will feature some of the best upcoming European teams competing over the next two months.

'The Battle' is an online tournament that will give tons of Overwatch teams a chance to prove themselves and have a shot at a $4,000 prize pool. There will be multiple stages of the tournament, starting with four open qualifiers.

Qualifiers

Each of the four open qualifiers will have 32 teams competing in a single elimination, BO1 bracket. The top four teams from each qualifier will move on to the first group stage.

  • First Qualifier - June 5th
  • Second Qualifier - June 8th
  • Third Qualifier - June 12th
  • Fourth Qualifier - June 15th

First Group Stage (June 16-30)

The first group stage will consist of four groups, each with four teams that advanced from the qualifiers. The groups will be round robin style and every series will be a BO3. The top team from each group will qualify for the playoffs in July, and the top 2-3 teams of each group will go on to compete in a second qualifier.

Second Group Stage (July 1-17)

The second group stage will have two groups, consisting of a double elimination bracket with the top 2-3 teams in each group of the previous group stage. Similarly to the first group stage, each match will be a BO3 and the two best teams from each group will qualify for the playoffs, rounding out the eight teams that will be competing.

The Main Event (July 18-24)

Once all eight teams are finalized for the main event they will compete in a full, double elimination bracket. Each series will be a BO3, until the grand finale which will end in a BO9. The top teams from each group in the first group stage will play against two teams that qualified in the second group stage. Teams will be competing for major recognition, and a chance at the $4,000 prize pool.

  • First Place - $2,000
  • Second Place - $1,000
  • Third & Fourth Place - $500
